New Retail Space

Gainsborough

THE BRIEF

We were approached by our partner The Range to create a new retail space within an up-and-coming contemporary retail park in Gainsborough. This project was slightly different from the normal brief, due to the units being Grade II listed buildings, one unit previously occupied by Laura Ashley and the other Halfords. Our brief was to combine the two units, whilst protecting the grade II listed features and the mezzanine floor. In addition, we were asked to construct new storage areas, bring the building up to current building control regulations including handrails and M&E and then designing the merchandising area around the existing shop floor features to ensure the store maximise opportunities for sales.

OUR APPROACH

As with all our projects for The Range, we are working to a very tight programme to ensure we help our client get the tills ringing asap. This project was no different however this brief incorporated heritage restrictions due to the building being Grade II listed. The key to success of this scheme was early engagement with building control, the architect, and key subcontractors to establish an effective lean programme that also took into consideration the exiting heritage features.

As with all retail units the design for the merchandising layout is critical to maximises space and sales once open. Through collaborative working we design bespoke racking to maximum space in and around the listed pillars throughout the store.

THE OUTCOMES

In just 6 weeks our project team handed over a new store concept for The Range on time and defect free!

The building was fully compliant with Building Control and met Grade II listed building standards.
