THE BRIEF
A shopping metamorphosis
Capital & Regional approached us with a high-profile project they had for a former Marks & Spencer’s unit. The aim was to transform the store from a dated unit into a blank canvas, allowing new and exciting units to be created for two popular and established brands – Next and Simply Fresh.
OUR APPROACH
Battling global struggles
The project was instigated in November 2019. Unfortunately, it suffered delays and several false starts, due to tenant lease issues and the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite the early delays, our team was able to recommence the project in July 2020. Through collaborative and critical path programming, and a lot of hard work managing a 24-hour site, the project was successfully concluded the following December.
We were engaged at an early stage in this project which allowed us to control the site investigation process. Moreover, our early involvement meant we were able to help resolve a myriad of design and structural challenges for the new unit.
THE OUTCOMES
A triumphant delivery
Despite the tumultuous start, CDS was pleased to deliver the project safely, and hand over in time a modern and inspiring new retail unit for both Next and Simply Fresh.
